The first big blizzard of 2015 has arrived, with 30 million people bracing for the worst. As governors up and down the east coast declared states of emergency and urged residents to take precautions, snow was beginning to blanket major cities.
Shoppers were lining up at their local stores to hoard supplies of food, water and rugged winter gear.

Meanwhile, commutes were becoming a nightmare after New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Connecticut issued travel bans and moved to shut down public transportation services.
