Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol will not travel to Oklahoma City amid trade talk

Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol will reportedly not travel with the team to Oklahoma City as they prepare to play the Thunder on Thursday night, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Gasol was held out of the lineup Tuesday night as trade discussions with the Charlotte Hornets heated up as the two teams look to strike a deal centered around the 11-year veteran.

With the trade deadline looming at 3 p.m. Thursday, it is very well possible that the longtime member of the Grizzlies has played his final game for the organization.

After the Grizzlies started off the 2018-19 season strong, the team has since struggled with various injuries and has quickly fallen out of the playoff picture, leading to the decision to trade Gasol.

In addition to trading Gasol, the organization is also reportedly looking at moving Mike Conley as they attempt to recoup some assets for the two and continue their apparent rebuild.

With Gasol out of the lineup Tuesday, the Grizzlies defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves with just nine players suiting up amid the trade discussions for Gasol and other various injuries on the roster.
