Grizzlies looking to trade Iguodala rather than buy him out

Although there are plenty of signs pointing to Andre Iguodala going to the Los Angeles Lakers, especially due to his former agent running their basketball operations, the Memphis Grizzles don’t appear keen on making life easy for the purple and gold.

ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reported that the Grizzlies are listening to teams making offers for Iguodala, including the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks, rather than moving to buy him out as many had suspected.

Iguodala has been seen as a likely Laker due to his relationship with his former agent and current Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka. However, it doesn’t appear that Iguodala’s potential path to the Lakers would be easy. And at least the Grizzlies appear to be willing to get value out of one of the league’s most experienced playmakers and defenders.

The Lakers have done a nice job of filling out their roster on minimum signings over the last few days, agreeing to deals with veteran forward Jared Dudley and sharpshooting guard Troy Daniels. If they miss on bringing in 2019 Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, they could bring back some of the pieces who were on their team during last year’s disappointing first season with LeBron James.
