Grinning Kentucky mom reeking of booze told cops she left her todders alone to go ‘smoke’ — let’s just say it wasn’t cigarettes

Police arrested a 23-year-old Kentucky mother in early September 2025, after she allegedly left her two young children alone for hours while she went out to “smoke” what cops say was marijuana. The mother, Morgan Chapman’s mugshot, featuring a glamorous pose and a wide grin, has since gone viral online

Authorities charged Chapman of Pikeville, Kentucky, with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor after police found her 2- and 4-year-old children unsupervised at her apartment. Police responded to a domestic disturbance call around 9 p.m. that night. Upon arrival, officers were greeted by the children, who were alone and unaware of their mother’s whereabouts.

A neighbor informed authorities that Chapman had asked her to watch the children at approximately 5 p.m. while she stepped out to “go smoke.” When Chapman returned hours later, she appeared intoxicated, exhibiting slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, and reeking of alcohol.

Chapman’s ex: “Morgan chose to slum around”

Chapman’s ex-husband, Jordan Keith Chapman, has publicly criticized the mother of his children, stating that their children were now in his sole custody.

Jordan wrote in part on social media, “So, just because I’m getting so many messages, I’m gonna clear this up now. Morgan chose to slum around with her 16 year old boyfriend and get drunk with all the rest of the mom of the year club on Northgate. Apparently they had been fighting at the apartment before she left and had the police called for a domestic dispute. When the police showed up, my ex-wife was in a different appartment. My kids didn’t even know where she was. My children are now safe and have been placed solely in my care.”

Following her arrest, Chapman was released on bond. As of now, her legal representation has not been publicly disclosed.
