Gay dating app Grindr has gone offline, prompting complaints from hundreds of users.

The popular hook-up app has suffered a global outage, with users in the US, Europe and Australia all unable to connect.

The problems are thought to have started around 11pm on Wednesday.

Users took to Twitter to complain about the outage, with one quipping that “due to this there is an influx of gays attending social events away from their telecommunication devices.”

One man said: “Grindr is down... time to get a stable long-term relationship. Downloading Tinder.”

Another said: “If Grindr’s server is down then the government should be shut down as well.”

A third added: “Breaking: Gay men around the world are talking to each other in person after Grindr app goes offline.”

Grindr have been contacted for a comment.
