A 'grinch' neighbour sent a letter to a family saying there will be "hell to pay" if they put on a big display of Christmas lights.
The anonymous threat was sent to the family after they promised "bigger and better" festive lights when they wowed locals with a colourful Halloween display.
But the miserable complainant has demanded they do not decorate their house for Christmas because it is “down right annoying” and attracts traffic and noise.
The upset neighbour is believed to be one of two to complain to the family about their Halloween lights.
The note sent to the family on Monday reads: “I see that you have started to put up your Christmas lights. I hope it’s not going to be as big and disgusting as your halloween display.

“I am telling you there is people in this neighbourhood including myself that don’t like what you have done and what you are doing now.... it is a disgrace and the traffic and the noise is down right annoying.
"I am advising you not to do a big and an eye sore of a display otherwise there will be hell to pay and if they [spectators] park on my footpath and if there is a lot of noise, I will be calling the police for disturbance of the peace."
They ended the letter saying: “DON’T DO IT.
"Concerned resident of North Lakes."

A photo of the note was shared on Facebook which attracted more than 600 comments from people who called the author a "grinch" and "gutless."
In response, others urged the family in North Lakes, Brisbane, to go ahead with their big display.
One person wrote: "Don't give in to idiots who don't like traditions. Just because they don’t like it doesn't mean others won't."
Another commented: "That is just disgusting. Who gave them the right to threaten you. Don’t let them stop you, let them call whoever they want," a third said.

"If the lights bring you and the kids in your neighbourhood some joy in this shitty year. You go for it. The grinch of your street can pull their curtains and get stuffed."
In a united show of support many neighbours offered to help decorate the entire street in retaliation, and help make the display the family’s biggest yet.
One said: "Just go big!! Your halloween display looked amazing and if you can do a bigger and better Christmas display then go for it."
However despite calls for the family to stick to their original plans of a big display the neighbour said he wasn’t willing to risk causing disruption among locals so will tone things down.
He said on his post: "We have decided to do a display, but not as big as we intended. Hopefully it will still bring a smile to people's faces that do come and have a look.
"Again thank you all, it’s been overwhelming. Our lights will be on from the 1st of December."
