Grimes has welcomed a son with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, opting to give the little one the bizarre name of X Æ A-12.
And before she gave birth, the singer, 32, posed for a series of stunning photos for Italian Vogue.
She was nine months pregnant during the photoshoot and flaunts her baby bump while gracing the front cover of the fashion magazine.
In the accompanying interview, Grimes - real name Claire Boucher - opens up about how "demanding" it was to be pregnant during the coronavirus pandemic and how it meant she couldn't see a friend before they died.
She says: "It's definitely very challenging to be pregnant in the middle of a pandemic. It's tough not being able to see friends and family.
"A friend of mine unfortunately passed away recently, and it was a nightmare not being able to be there for her loved ones.
"It won't be easy to be in hospital... I won't go into detail, but I feel very empathetic for anyone who is going through this same phase.
"And I trust what the maternity wards are doing to manage the situation, I have a great deal of respect for the work that doctors do."
Grimes also shares her belief that the pandemic will force us to live differently as we are facing "an interesting change in consumption habits".
She continued: "This is an opportunity to have a good, long think about how we’re living, even if it's an uncomfortable truth!"
Elon Musk announced the pair had welcomed a baby boy on Tuesday.
It the first child that Elon and Grimes - who began dating in 2018 - have welcomed together.
He also has five other children: twins Griffin and Xavier, and triplets Damien, Saxon and Kai, and tragically lost a son called Nevada to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
After causing a meltdown when she revealed what she'd named her son, Grimes took to Twitter to explain what it means.
"X, the unknown variable," ️Grimes began in her post. "Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence).
"A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent."
