Grimes has spoken out about dating tech billionaire Elon Musk, saying “the s*** that’s happened with my boyfriend this year has overwritten so much of my life’s work”.
The Canadian musician talked to Rolling Stone magazine about how the relationship had changed her life.
“No one believes me about this,” she said, “But I just did not understand what I was getting into at all.”
“Not that I’m mad about it. I just didn’t think it would be a thing.”
Musk is the founder of electric car company Tesla. Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, is currently pregnant with his child.
“There are a lot of problems in the world that we need to solve,” said Grimes, when asked about her boyfriend’s electric car business. “The government is actually doing it, tangibly, visibly – like, you just can’t deny it.”
She then compared him to the socialist contender for the US Democrat Presidential nomination, Bernie Sanders: “When I look at the aims of my boyfriend and I look at the aims of Bernie, like, their end goals are very similar.”
Grimes recently released her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, to critical acclaim.
