Grimes films Elon Musk cuddling tiny baby X Æ A-12 to celebrate Mother's Day

Grimes has been celebrating her first Mother's Day as a new mum, and marked the occasion by sharing rare footage of partner Elon Musk cuddling their brand new baby son.

The little boy - who they've named X Æ A-12 - was seen curled up on his dad's chest as Elon gently patted his back to wind him.

Tiny X Æ A-12 seemed to be rocking off to sleep in the intimate footage, which Grimes captioned with a simple pink love heart.

It comes after the happy couple announced the reasons behind their unusual name - although Elon had to correct his girlfriend when she got part of the moniker wrong.

She had tweeted: "X, the unknown variable. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence). A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent + (A=Archangel, my favorite song) ( metal rat)."

Elon then replied to her in a now-viral tweet: "SR-71, but yes."

Grimes patiently explained: "I am recovering from surgery and barely alive so may my typos b forgiven but, damnit. That was meant to be profound."

The singer - real name Claire Boucher - has also revealed how to pronounce her son's name after baffled fans asked what she was thinking.

"It’s just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I," Grimes explained.

Her video comes hours after billionaire Elon, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, announced he was going to reopen production at his California car factory in spite of strict coronavirus lockdown laws.

The defiant tech mogul tweeted: "Tesla is restarting production today against Alameda County rules.

"I will be on the line with everyone else. If anyone is arrested, I ask that it only be me."

In a statement on Tesla's website, the team said its employees are "excited" to get back to work.

"We understand the impacts COVID-19 has caused and have a responsibility to look out for the livelihoods and safety of our personnel, many of whom rely on us and have been out of work for weeks due to the impacts of shelter-in-place orders," Tesla said.

"We will continue to put people back to work in a safe and responsible manner. However, the County's position left us no choice but to take legal action to ensure that Tesla and its employees can get back to work. We filed a lawsuit on May 9 asking the court to invalidate the County Orders, to the extent the County claims they prevent Tesla from resuming operations."
