Canadian musician Grimes has defended Elon Musk after TikTok users asked her why she is dating him.

On Sunday, a fan questioned the duo’s relationship in the comments section of a video the singer posted of herself learning “sword dancing” while listening to The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears”.

It said: “Grimesss. How are you doing this and actively sleeping with the man who [is literally destroying] the planet and humanity[?]”

The 33-year-old artist responded: “How is he doing these things? His whole career is about making travel/house power etc. sustainable and green. It’s worth a deep dive.”

Another user then asked Grimes to confirm whether or not the SpaceX CEO is a “men’s rights activist,” writing “Bestie can you confirm he’s not a men’s rights activist? Some people online have been saying that and I’m concerned.”

“He’s not,” Grimes said. “Def he’s been very immature at points on Twitter but for [example] the president of SpaceX is a woman, as is his right hand at Neuralink, etc.”

There were many other counter questions for the musician, one of which said to ask Musk to stop world hunger to which the “Delete Forever” singer replied: “People keep asking this but just throwing $ doesn’t solve it. He’s trying to focus on the issues he knows he can solve and they are real essential issues.”

The duo have been in a relationship since 2018 and made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2018 Met Gala.

On 4 May 2020, they welcomed their first child together and named him X Æ A-Xii.
