Grieving mum moved to tears by three strangers' incredible acts

A grieving mum whose brother died less than two weeks ago has thanked three strangers who ‘made her day’ in Wythenshawe.

Jo Little was in Poundland when she realised her purse had disappeared on Wednesday (December 15).

It was the first time she had managed to do any shopping since the death of her brother John just 10 days earlier.

The 56-year-old left the chocolates she had intended to buy at the tills and left the store.

Just moments later, a woman chased after her and handed her the items – saying she had paid for them herself.

After thanking the kind stranger for her generosity, Jo retraced her steps in a bid to find her lost purse.

She used her phone to cancel her bank cards before checking a charity shop she had visited earlier that afternoon.

To her surprise, her purse had been handed in to a staff member.

Before returning home, Jo, who works as an order delivery manager, stopped off at a local Costa for a coffee.

Despite unblocking her bank card, it wouldn’t work at the till.

But amazingly, another kind stranger in front of her in the queue offered to pay for her drink.

“I sat down and burst into tears,” Jo told the Manchester Evening News.

“Because it’s the logistics of trying to get all the cards sorted before John's funeral.

“When I went to get my purse out in the pound shop and it was gone, I was distraught.

“A woman ran out and said she had bought me the chocolates.

“I went into a couple of shops to see if my purse had been handed in. I was in bits because I didn’t know what to do.

“In the charity shop, I asked if a red purse had been handed in, and she said yes.

“I gave her some chocolate. The relief – I just wanted to cry if I’m honest.

“I do believe in paying it forwards. I’m going to make a donation to the food bank this weekend.”

Jo posted about her experience to a local Facebook page.

The status has since racked up 1.2k likes and almost 100 comments.

It reads: “Honestly Wythenshawe gets such a bad rap but thank you if you were one of the wonderful people that have helped me today. I have had such a bad few weeks and you really have made my day today. I wish you nothing but good luck.”
