Grieving mum doesn't celebrate Christmas anymore after death of daughter, 13

A mother stopped celebrating Christmas since her 13-year-old daughter died in the festive period three years ago.

Eboney Cheshire passed away hours after being found having a seizure in bed. It was later found the tragedy was a result of MDMA, or ecstasy, poisoning.

Her grieving mum Kerry Williams hasn't celebrated Christmas in the three years since as it's "just not the same" without popular Eboney.

Speaking today to Liverpool Echo, Kerry said: "It is really hard, at first I couldn't even put the tree up at all.

"But I do have little nephews and so my family tell me to make an effort, so I made it into an Eboney tree, it's all pink and it's got angel wings all over it, so it's literally an Eboney tree, that's the way I look at it, but no I won't celebrate Christmas anymore, it's just not the same is it. It can't be."

The mum-of-two believes the drug was put in to the teenager's drink.

Eboney died on December 3, 2018 - just hours after she and Kerry put the Christmas tree up at their home near St Helens, Merseyside.

"The day before she passed away, I was actually putting up the tree while she was poorly on the couch, then we just sat there watching Christmas movies together," Kerry added.

"She knew all the capital cities of the world at an unbelievably young age and she would come out with massive words that her grandad would teach her, and this is from nursery age, her teachers would be so confused when she would come our with these word and teachers would get her to repeat the words."

Kerry's oldest child Leon, 19, has suffered from anxiety as a result of the bereavement.

The mum continued: "He's got his driving test in January, I had a saving fund for the both of them, and it broke my heart dipping into it because I'd said that when Eboney would reach a certain age I would split it between them.

"It absolutely broke me to buy Leon a car with it. But I told him that it's a gift from his sister."
