Grieving mum and daughter targeted by knife-wielding robber at relative's grave

A grieving mother and daughter were attacked by a knife-wielding robber while visiting their relative's grave in broad daylight.

The pair were laying flowers on their deceased family member's tombstone at Greenacres Cemetery in Oldham at around 2.45 pm last weekend when a robber pounced on them.

The man, armed with a blade, tried to make off with the mother's bag which she held on to for her dear life.

He demanded their car keys but ended up fleeing the scene empty handed, leaving the victims "incredibly shaken".

The man is described as white, aged between 18 to 25 and wore a grey hooded top with horizontal stripes (Google Streetview)

The mother, who is in her 60s, was left with cuts and bruises following her altercation with the robber.

The perpetrator is described as white, aged 18 to 25, and wore a grey hooded top with horizontal stripes at the time of the attack.

Greater Manchester Police Detective Sgt Alex Wilkinson said: "This was a cowardly attack on two women who were simply visiting the grave of a loved one to pay their respects."
