Grieving dad Les thanks community for support ahead of Darren Hoey's funeral

A fundraising page has been set up by the devastated family of Wishaw man Darren Hoey to help pay for his funeral.

Cousin Eilidh McQuade started the fundraiser after Darren, 34, pictured above, was found dead in Edinburgh at the end of last month.

The funeral will take place at McAllister’s Funeral Parlour in Main Street on Friday at 1pm, with the wake taking place at Wishaw Bowling Club at 2pm. Family flowers only are requested.

Posting on the page online, Eilidh said: “I can’t put in to words how devastated our family is and still can’t quite believe that you are gone. There will be a big gap in all our hearts.

“As a family we would be so grateful for any donation that’s made big or small to help contribute to Darren’s funeral.”

Darren’s dad Les added: “We have had hundreds of cards through which shows how well liked he was.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their support from all over the world.”
