Tram works, road closures and roadworks - let's face it, when you get stuck in traffic in Edinburgh it usually comes as no surprise.
However new data from engineering company Vemco Consulting has revealed just how bad the problem for those commuting by car through the capital really is.
Edinburgh has come out as the UK's slowest city in the figures, with drivers losing a shocking 165 hours and £1219 a year to congestion.
To put this in perspective, Edinburgh comes second only to London where drivers lose out on 227 hours and £1680 a year.
Our west coast counterpart Glasgow only lose 99 hours and £736 a year to their city's congestion issues.
Both Edinburgh and London have last-mile speeds of 7 mph - for comparison, Dublin, which has an average last-mile speed of 5.9 mph during peak times, was ranked as the world’s slowest city.
In December last year the possibility of an Edinburgh congestion charge was being explored by council bosses in a bid to encourage commuters to use public transport rather than bringing their cars into the city.
No detailed or outline proposals have yet been mooted and it is thought any policy would follow extensive consultation with the public.
