Greyhound named after Jungle Book favourite asking for these ‘bare necessities’ in new home

Greyhound Baloo, named after the beloved character in Disney’s The Jungle Book, is a rescue pooch who lives up to his name. Currently residing at Dogs Trust Manchester, the beautiful boy is as easygoing, fun-loving and good-natured as his namesake.

The team at the Denton-based rehoming centre say the six-year-old dog is very chilled out and often to be found snoozing on his bed or watching the world go by.

That said, he is always happy to go for a walk or to play with his two-legged friends, much like how the character finds companionship in Mowgli.

But of course, Baloo requires a few ‘bare necessities’ in his new home, now that he’s ready to find a family. Firstly, he’d like an adult-only home with no young visiting children and he’d like a separate quiet space where he can relax and eat his meals without being disturbed.

Balloo is happy to meet up with canine friends when he’s out and about, particularly other greyhounds, but he’d like to be the only pet in the home as he likes his own space.

Like many greyhounds, he doesn’t like stairs so he’ll need a home where he doesn’t need to climb stairs, and as he’s a real foodie a home where he can be separated from the kitchen when nobody is around would be ideal.

Dogs Trust Manchester Manager, Lisa Eardley, said: “Baloo is a really affectionate boy who loves a snuggle and likes to say hello to everyone he meets. He also loves toys and food so if his new owners play with him and have some tasty treats to hand, he will soon be a loyal friend for life.

“He loves to spend time with us in the office so he could potentially be a good companion in an office or for someone working from home who would like some canine company. He always makes us smile so we know he’d brighten anyone’s day!”
