Gretna Gateway Retail Outlet Village set for multi-million revamp and new name

A multi-million pound revamp of the Gretna Gateway Retail Outlet Village could create up to 60 jobs.

The owners, London-based RPMI Railpen, have started work on upgrading facilities at the site which welcomes more than two million visitors a year.

And the project includes a name change for the popular shopping complex to Caledonia Park.

The site currently employs more than 560 people in shops, cafes and restaurants.

And in the planning application ahead of the revamp the owners said the improvements would lead to the creation of up to 60 new jobs.

Adidas, Reebok, Levi and The Cosmetics Company are among new designer brands which are moving in.

Scott Wells, Caledonia Park’s centre manager, welcomed in the new name and planned improvements this week.

He told the Standard it was the company’s intention to create “Scotland’s premier designer village”.

The new-look shopping centre will include a “dining quarter” and a farm shop focusing on local produce.

RPMI Railpen’s head of property asset management, Matthew Howard said: “Caledonia Park will be a vibrant hub for retail and dining in the heart of southern Scotland.

“We have seen outstanding performance to date and the refreshed offer and re-branding will bring a new level of momentum for the village.

“The strategic regeneration meets our core investment themes and lays the foundations for long-term growth.”
