Greta Thunberg visit to Bristol: Met Office weather forecast for Friday

Students will be flocking to Bristol from all over the country tomorrow (February 28) to see Greta Thunberg speak.

The world renowned environmental activist will join the Bristol Youth Strike 4 Climate strike on College Green.

Thousands of people are expected to be in attendance, with police warning the event itself may not be controlled 'adequately.'

With these unprecedented numbers set to descend on the city for Greta's visit, the weather will play an important part in potential numbers and safety measures.

And unfortunately, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain for the entire day - see the full break-down below.

Weather forecast for Greta's visit

9am to 12pm

It's a day of heavy rain tomorrow in Bristol and there will be a chilly start to the morning with temperatures in ranging from 4C to 8C.

Throughout the morning, the rain is forecast to get steadily gets heavier. At 11am, when Greta is due to give her speech in College Green, there will be a 91% of heavy rain and the temperature will be 7C.

Tomorrow afternoon 12pm to 5pm

Heavy rain continues into the afternoon when the march through the city is due to take place.

At 1pm, there is a brief chance of a sunny spell, but this doesn't last, as by 2pm, heavy rain sets in again.

Greta is due to visit a mural of herself on the side of the Tobacco Factory in Southville during the afternoon.

The rain is also expected to be accompanied by strong winds throughout the afternoon.

Tomorrow evening 5pm to 10pm

As people from across the UK return home after visiting Greta in Bristol, the rain will linger into much of the evening and throughout the night.

Despite the heavy rain and wind that is forecast, Greta's visit is sure to be a memorable day not only for Bristol but for the UK.
