Greta Thunberg named TIME magazine's Person of the Year

Young climate activist Greta Thunberg has been named the TIME magazine's Person of the Year 2019.

The American magazine praises her ‘moral to act’, and the impact she had on several policies.

From the steps of the Swedish Parliament, with her famous 'School Strike for Climate' sign to the UN Assembly, Thunberg’s worldwide movement of climate strikers has influenced people all over the world.

She has also met several world leaders including the Pope, while traveling in a sustainable boat across the ocean to raise awareness about travel emissions.

On September 20, more than 4 million people joined the worldwide climate strike, making it the largest climate demonstration in history.

TIME magazine also praised her ability to rally the crowds.

The article on her win reads, “By clarifying an abstract danger with piercing outrage, Thunberg became the most compelling voice on the most important issue facing the planet.

“Where others smile to cut the tension, Thunberg is withering. Where others speak the language of hope, Thunberg repeats the unassailable science: Oceans will rise. Cities will flood. Millions of people will suffer.”
