'Greta Thunberg Helpline' approved by climate change activist herself

Greta Thunberg has thrown her weight behind the joke “Greta Thunberg Helpline”.

The viral “helpline” video was posted by satirist Mark Humphries on Thursday, in response to the scathing criticism the 16-year-old climate change activist has received as her profile continues to grow.

To the sound of mournful piano music, the sketch begins: “I’m a middle aged man with an embarrassing problem. I get irrationally angry at a Swedish girl who wants to save the planet…”

Ms Thunberg has come under fire from the likes of US president Donald Trump, while some commentators in America branded her “a mentally ill Swedish child”.

But fresh from her appearances at the United Nations, Ms Thunberg got in on the joke and gave the sketch her seal of approval.

She sarcastically wrote on Twitter alongside the video: “Hang in there! Help is available.”

It comes a day after Ms Thunberg posted a series of tweets blasting adults who “spend their time mocking and threatening teenagers and children for promoting science”.
