Greta Thunberg has changed his her Twitter bio again, this time to mock Vladimir Putin after the Russian leader dismissed her as a “poorly informed” girl.

The president told an energy forum in Moscow that he didn’t share the “general excitement” about the 16-year-old activist, but added: “I’m sure she’s a kind and very sincere girl”.

Greta responded as she did after Donald Trump belittled her on Twitter – by changing her bio on the social media platform to: “A kind but poorly informed teenager.”

Previously, her profile one-liner read: “A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future”.

Greta did not respond directly to Vladimir Putin. Instead she changed her Twitter bio (@GretaThunberg/Twitter)

It came after the US president retweeted a clip of her fiery and impassioned speech to a United Nations climate summit, in which she angrily denounced world leaders for their failure to tackle climate change.

Mr Trump wrote mockingly alongside the clip: "She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"

The Russian president brought up Greta’s speech at the Moscow energy forum, saying: “I may disappoint you but I don’t share the general excitement about Greta Thunberg’s speech.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin made the comments at the 2019 Russian Energy Week forum in Moscow on Wednesday (AP)

“No one has explained to Greta that the modern world is complex and diverse, that it is developing quickly, and that people in Africa or in many Asian countries want to live at the same wealth levels as in Sweden,” he added.

Mr Putin went on to suggest that Greta was being used by climate change groups without regard for her emotional or psychological health.

“I’m sure that Greta is a kind and very sincere girl, but using children and teenagers for even such noble aims is wrong,” he said. “This is worthy of condemnation.”

During Greta's now notorious UN summit appearance, she rebuked world leaders for their inaction over the climate crisis, telling them they had "stolen" her "childhood" with their "empty words".
