Greta Gerwig, the acclaimed filmmaker, recently shared her reaction to the Oscar nominations received by the movie 'Barbie.' The film garnered an impressive eight nominations for the upcoming Oscars, but Gerwig and the lead actress Margot Robbie did not make the cut for Best Director and Best Actress categories, respectively.

Gerwig expressed her sentiments by stating that she had hoped for a nomination for Robbie but emphasized her happiness in being part of the ceremony alongside her colleagues. She highlighted her own nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay, which she shares with her husband Noah Baumbach, who co-wrote the movie.

Robbie, also a co-producer of 'Barbie,' received a nomination for Best Picture along with her husband Tom Ackerley and other co-producers. Despite missing out on individual nominations, both Gerwig and Robbie have received overwhelming support from their peers in the industry.

The nominees for Best Director at the 96th Oscars include Justine Triet, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, Yorgos Lanthimos, and Jonathan Glazer. In the Best Actress category, nominees include Annette Bening, Lily Gladstone, Sandra Hüller, Carey Mulligan, and Emma Stone.

Robbie, in response to the nominations, expressed her gratitude and joy for the recognition received by 'Barbie.' She acknowledged Gerwig's exceptional directorial work on the film and praised the overall success of the movie.

Support for Gerwig and Robbie poured in from fellow nominees Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, who lauded their contributions to the groundbreaking film. Gosling emphasized the pivotal roles played by Gerwig and Robbie in the movie's success and expressed disappointment over their exclusion from the nominations.

The 96th Academy Awards, to be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, are scheduled to air live on Sunday, March 10, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. The event promises to be a celebration of cinematic excellence and talent, with 'Barbie' poised to make a significant impact at the prestigious awards ceremony.
