A fraudster faked living in Grenfell Tower and secured more than £75,000 in support through his lies.

Daniel Steventon, 37, feigned being homeless after the tragedy and said he had lived in a flat with a genuine victim of the fire.

Steventon, of Brondesbury Villas in Kilburn, sought housing and support worth £75,225, Scotland Yard said.

He pleaded guilty to one count of fraud by false representation at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday.

He is due to be sentenced on September 5.

At the time of making the claims he was working as a pharmacist's technician at a hospital in west London.

Steventon was interviewed under caution in August last year and charged with fraud by postal requisition in April this year.

The blaze at Grenfell Tower killed 72 people after it broke out in June 2017.
