Gregory's Girl Clare Grogan 'tickled' after Miley Cyrus calls her a legend

Gregory's Girl Clare Grogan admitted she was tickled after Miley Cyrus called her a musical legend online.

Altered Images singer Clare, who achieved global success with her hits including Happy Birthday and I Could Be Happy in the eighties, was chuffed to bits with the name check.

Despite being the inspiration for the song "True" by Spandau Ballet, and amassing fans including The Spice Girls over the years, Clare has always been down to earth and kept her girl next door persona.

And she admitted she was thrilled after former Hannah Montana star and Wrecking Ball singer Miley Cyrus posted a picture of her on her social media.

The picture came from a book called New Women in Rock and also depicted an illustration of other New Women in Rock singers including Grace Jones, Sheena Easton, and Siouxsie Sioux.

Miley also wrote: 'L.E.G.E.N.D.S Only'

Clare took to Twitter to share the Instagram post and wrote: "As you know I’m not one for showing off... But #MileyCyrus."

Fans of the Scots singer were impressed and told Clare.

One said: "And great to see you up there with that other Scottish female legend that is Sheena Easton!"

Another added: "And rightly so."

Referring to the image Ford Kiernan from Still Game also joked: "Had no idea you were the same height as Grace jones."
