Greggs to launch new vegan product in Newcastle first at exclusive nighttime preview

There is an air of mystery around a branch of Greggs in Newcastle today as its exterior has been covered in black posters.

Unlike the famous sign reversing at the bakers' Northumberland Street store last Christmas, which was done in the dead of night, workers were busy putting up posters at Greggs ' Grainger Street store in full view of customers and city centre shoppers on Monday afternoon.

And it's all to do with the imminent . Much like the video that appeared on the Geordie bakery's Facebook page hours earlier, the posters don't give too much away, reading 'Greggs Vegan...Be The First...Exclusive Preview Event."

The big difference is unlike the video, which confirmed Thursday, January 2 as the launch date for the new product, the posters revealed that the preview event will be taking place a day earlier on New Year's Day.

And now Chronicle Live can confirm that Newcastle lovers of all things Greggs are invited to be the first to try the as yet unnamed new product at an exclusive launch party at the Grainger Street branch.

A limited drop of 1,000 products will be available for those who are first through the shop’s doors at 10pm, with the first 200 people also receiving their vegan treat - hotly tipped to be a vegan steak bake - in a limited edition gift box.

These are the 23 'secret' items you can order from certain Greggs stores
