Greggs will launch its Festive Bake in Newcastle today by giving away 500 of the pasties for free.
The Christmas dinner pasty will be available in Northumberland Street's Greggs a week before they hit shelves in stores around the country. To celebrate, Greggs will give away 500 of them for free as crowds gather to see Fenwick unveil its Christmas window .
In a tweet promoting the freebies, Greggs posted: "Christmas starts at our Northumberland Street shop at 4.30pm tonight. Guaranteed to knock your Mam's Christmas Dinner out of the park (but maybe don't tell her that)."
Fenwick will unveil its window at 5pm. The window is directly opposite Greggs in Northumberland Street. Last year, the bakery chain famously changed its sign into a mirror image so anyone looking at Fenwick's display could see the word 'Greggs' reflected into it.
The festive bakes will be given away completely free while stocks last.
Greggs chose to launch the product in its home city of Newcastle after a public vote.
