Greggs targets Christmas market with pigs-in-blankets tubs

The words “too many” and “pigs-in-blankets” are almost never seen in the same sentence.

This is because for many of us the meaty Christmas dinner accompaniment are simply irresistible.

With the festive season almost upon us, leading snack-food provider Greggs have launched a new product which aims to tap into the nation’s love of this traditional festive fare.

The Mirror reports that the retailer’s simple-but-brilliant idea sees mini tubs of pork cocktail sausages wrapped in smoked streaky bacon on sale in a range of selected stores across the UK.

Priced at £2.25 per pot, each serving contains 325 calories – about the same as many mince pies.

The pigs-in-blankets are part of Greggs' new seasonal menu which includes a pigs-in-blankets baguette and the iconic Greggs festive bake.

Also joining the ranks this year are three intriguing new hot drinks: mint mocha, salted caramel latte and mint hot chocolate, which cost between £2.20 and £2.75 each.

Other new items include a range of sweet treats such as Christmas tiffin bites, Christmas shortbread bites, tree biscuits, cake slices, ring buns and novelty biscuits.
