Greggs is getting pasties and sausage rolls back onto Britain’s streets by reopening a small number of stores while it continues to trial safety measures.
Fans of the Newcastle-based baker will be able to purchase their favourite products, including coffee, pasties and cakes, at an undisclosed number of shops in the Tyneside area.
The gradual reopening process has followed a series of trials with staff testing working practices while remaining shut to customers.
The trial involving a restricted product range and shorter trading hours will take at least two weeks.
After that, far more are set to open.

Chief executive Roger Whiteside issued a statement on the firm's website, stressing the trials were in line with the Government's Covid-19 guidelines.
He said: "These trials are being conducted across a number of channels, including delivery through Just Eat, Click + Collect and walk-in customers.
"Colleague and customer safety continue to be the primary focus of the decisions we take as we start to reopen our shops.
"Thank you for your patience while we work hard to play our part in getting the nation back up and running again and serving the communities in which we operate."
Original plans to reopen stores on Monday May 4 were delayed after the baker realised how excited people were at the prospect.
Whiteside had previously issued a letter to staff where he said he hopes to open around 700 stores, including 150 franchise shops, with new operational measures in place from June 8.
The letter revealed the baker intends to open all of its 2,050 stores by July 1, when the Government's current furlough support package is due to end.
A Greggs spokesman said: "We are initially operating shop trials behind closed doors in order to test the effectiveness of our new operational safety measures.
