Greggs reveal when Newcastle drive-thru will open, opening hours and what you can order

Famous Tyneside bakers Greggs will soon open their first drive-thru restaurant in Newcastle and it won't be long until you can order your favourite foods from the comfort of your car.

There was a huge reaction to the announcement of the Greggs drive-thru opening at Tyneside Auto Parc and now Greggs have revealed further details about what we can expect from it, as well as when it will open.

The scheme to open the fast food branch off the A1056 Sandy Lane, North Gosforth , was given the go-ahead by planners last year and construction work is well underway.

And Chronicle Live have been back in touch with Greggs to get all the important information you need to give you plenty of food for thought.

When will Greggs' Newcastle drive-thru open?

All being well, the Sandy Lane drive-thru will open at the end of June.

Will people be able to order everything from the usual Greggs menu?

Yes! Customers will be able to enjoy a range of hot and cold sandwiches, freshly prepared throughout the day, as well as soups and freshly baked savouries including normal and vegan sausage rolls!

Breakfast will be served until 11am, featuring traditional classics such as bacon rolls, fresh fruit and a full range of freshly ground, Fairtrade coffee.

Greggs reveal the big reason why they don't keep their sausage rolls hot

The Balanced Choice range includes a selection of sandwiches, pasta salads, soups, drinks, porridge and fruit - all for fewer than 400 calories.

A few items, such as Fresh Cream Cakes, will be available in the shop only.

Can all the usual drinks be ordered too?

Customers will be able to order both cold and hot drinks both in shop and going through the Drive Thru.

This includes our freshly ground coffee, made with a blend of high-grown, 100% Fairtrade Arabica and Robusta beans, slow-roasted to create a delicious full flavour.

With a vast range of coffee and tea, there’s something for everyone.

What will the opening times be?

Greggs are planning to open from 6am to 9pm from Monday – Saturday, with slightly reduced hours on a Sunday.

Will there be waiting bays or will all orders be done straight away?

Greggs say their intention is for Drive Thru customers to be served straight away, offering them the ultimate convenience, but during busy periods and on rare occasions there may be a slight wait for certain items.

They're currently planning to build three waiting bays.

Will there still be the option to walk in and order?

Yes, customers will also be able to go into the shop and order inside if preferred.

Seating will also be provided for customers who wish to enjoy their purchases inside the shop.

Iceland have just launched a very tasty 3 for £5 Greggs meal deal
