Greggs recalls sausage rolls over concerns they are 'unsafe to eat'

Greggs is recalling its mini sausage rolls from Iceland stores across the country over concerns they are "unsafe to eat".

The bakery giant sells 16-packs of the frozen treats exclusively with the chain, but there are now fears they might contain bits of plastic.

The Food Safety Agency has issued an official warning about the product, reports Wales Online .

The company has assured that the issue only affects the frozen sausage rolls and all of the products in their bakeries are completely unaffected.

The FSA said: "Greggs is recalling its frozen Mini Sausage Rolls (16 Pack) because they may contain small pieces of plastic.

"The presence of plastic could present a choking hazard, makes this product unsafe to eat and presents a safety risk.

Do you have any of these in the freezer? (ICELAND)

"This product is exclusively sold in Iceland Stores and does not affect the products sold in Greggs."

If you have a pack of the potentially contaminated sausage rolls in your freezer you can take them back to your nearest store for a full refund.

The packs in question are the 433g packs with the batch code 18334. The best before date is November 30, 2019.

Greggs made the headlines last week after Next started selling a cushion which looks a LOT like one of the bakery's steak bakes .

The £18 cushion has the bake's famous zigzag pattern across the top and is a pretty good colour match.

It didn't take long for the company's social media account to get involved, tweeting"*Googles if it's okay to eat a cushion*".

Their post quickly went viral, attracting more than 5,000 likes and 500 retweets.
