Greggs issues warning over one of the bakery's most popular items

High street bakery giant Greggs has warned that one of its most popular products is in jeopardy.

Greggs says its vegan sausage rolls could be running out.

Greggs said there were "temporary interruptions" to supplies of products - including vegan sausage rolls - across the country, according to newswire Reuters.

Stores in London are worst affected.

Greggs outlets in Canary Wharf, Earls Court, Richmond, South Woodford and Twickenham all ran out of vegan sausage rolls this week.

The news comes after Greggs ran out of some menu options in shops in September due to delivery issues caused by lorry driver shortages.

A Greggs spokesperson said: "Like others, we're seeing temporary interruptions which are affecting the supply for some of our products.

"Our stock levels will vary from day to day but we are working hard to minimise any impact on the availability of our products."

In October Greggs launched a new product - the vegan version of its festive bake.

The standard festive bake is filled with chicken, sage & onion stuffing and bacon, with a creamy sage and cranberry sauce, all inside pastry.

The vegan one substitutes the meat and dairy for Quorn and other plant-based alternatives.

This includes a pigs under blankets baguette, mince pies and Christmas lunch soup.

The Greggs Christmas menu is in stores now.
