Greggs issues urgent Iceland product recall notice due to fears over glass in pasties

Greggs are to issue a recall notice for some of their most popular products from the exclusive Iceland range over fears they contain glass.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has deemed two-pack varieties of the baker’s popular vegetable bake range unsafe for consumption due to concerns shards may be found inside.

Greggs say the recall only applies to certain versions of the product, sold in Iceland as part of an exclusive distribution deal with the supermarket.

However, anyone who has purchased the popular pastries is entitled to a refund of £2, with point of sale information available from the supermarket.

The recall applies to 310g two-pack vegetable bake products sold in Iceland with best before dates including August 15, August 28, September 11, September 12 and September 26 2021.

A Greggs spokesman said: “The safety of our food is of paramount importance and we take all issues regarding the production of our food extremely seriously.

“This recall does not affect any of our freshly baked savoury products available in our Greggs shops or other Greggs products sold at Iceland.

“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Full point of sale information will be displayed in Iceland stores, with customers warned not to consume the products.

A full refund will be given with no receipt required.
