Greggs is opening its second Greater Manchester drive-thru

Greggs is planning to open its second Greater Manchester drive-thru.

The bakery chain opened its first drive-thru in the UK at Irlam Gateway Service Station in Salford in 2017.

Now a second branch is set to be built in Sale, at the Dovecote Business Park off Old Hall Road, near to the junction with the M60.

The bakery would be open from 6am until 10pm daily, serving a range hot and cold sandwiches, soups and savouries throughout the day, according to a planning application lodged with Trafford Council.

It is part of a deal with petrol and service station operator Euro Garages Ltd, which operates more than 600 sites across the UK.

A number of objections have been raised by residents, who have expressed concern about the development's impact on traffic, parking and pollution.

"The area is already too congested during most hours, being used as access to the M60," one neighbour wrote.

"During rush hour there is a build up of traffic and the current roads are already at bursting point without encouraging more traffic into this primarily residential area."

The proposed bakery will employ up to 25 people, according to the application.

The M.E.N has contacted Greggs for a comment.
