Greggs is launching a nationwide delivery service this year

All *true* Northerners will know that there's nothing better than tucking in to a delicious warm treat from Greggs.

Whether you enjoy a chicken bake, a vegan sausage roll or a steak bake (meat or no meat, we're not judging), you really can't beat the taste of warm pastry goodness.

There's just one thing missing from the Greggs experience - delivery. Or so you thought.

After years of waiting, Greggs fans can finally rejoice, as the bakery chain has revealed that a nationwide service will be rolling out this year.

Speaking to City AM, the chain's Chief Executive, Roger Whiteside, confirmed that Greggs is almost ready to reveal plans for its new delivery service.

The brand has already partnered with the likes of Deliveroo, UberEats and Just Eat in various different cities - one of which was Manchester.

However, until now, the delivery service on offer has only been available as a temporary measure and as part of a promotion. However, under new plans, diners will be able to get their pasties delivered on a more permanent basis.

The Chief Exec said: "What we have been doing for more than a year is trialling in different places and different partners and we have learned enough to decide that we are interested in rolling out across the country."

Greggs is yet to reveal when exactly the nationwide delivery service will launch, and is also keeping the cities in which it will be available under wraps. However, with its popularity in the North, it's likely that Manchester is a good contender for inclusion.
