Greggs is giving away free food to people who had a lockdown birthday

If you celebrated your birthday during lockdown, chances are it wasn't the best one you ever had.

For those who had a birthday in March or April, you might not have been allowed to see your loved ones due to the government rules at the time.

Although no one can turn back the clock, Greggs wants to offer you some kind of compensation.

The bakery chain has announced it is giving away free sweet treats worth £1 to people who were potentially cake-less for their big day.

One pound might not sound like a lot, but it can get you a doughnut, cookie or a yum yum.

To claim your freebie all you have to do is download the Greggs Rewards app.

The bakery usually offers the freebie to all of its app users, however it is extending the usual one-month deadline to the end of 2020.

In other news, Greggs has also revealed when its Christmas Bake will be back in stores.

Although no official date has been set, the chain confirmed the treat will be making a comeback just before Bonfire Night.
