Greggs is being praised for its brilliant response to Coronavirus coming to the UK

With 51 cases of Coronavirus now having been confirmed in the UK (accurate at time of writing), employers and employees across the UK are taking into account the possibility that self-isolation may at some point be necessary.

According to Salman Haqqi, personal finance expert at money.co.uk , there is no legal right for employers to pay you if you need to self-isolate, but you should check your company’s policy for clarity.

However, Greggs has now revealed its plans for paying staff should they need to self-isolate and in true Greggs style, it's a belter of a response.

Speaking to BBC's Today, Greggs boss Roger Whiteside confirmed that the company will pay staff who have been forced to self-isolate due to Coronavirus.

He said: "Our default position is that we pay contract hours. We don't have any zero contract hours."

BRAVO, GREGGS. BRAVO.

The news has gone down well with fans of the high-street bakery, and many took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

"Top work here. Supporting your hard workers," praised one social media user.

Another said: "Greggs is fast becoming one of my favourite companies #greggs #fairpay ."

"I do wish people would stop being snobbish about #greggs . As they've shown again over Coronavirus (as with no-zero-hrs & mental health) they are a good employer & food is tasty & they are super clean. And they remain the only High Street chain that can make a decent cup of tea," wrote somebody else.

A fourth fan exclaimed: "Well done Greggs."
