Greggs hint at return of popular product - but it's not macaroni pie

Greggs have taken to social media to hint at the return of a popular product.

And no, it's not their macaroni pie.

If you're a fan of the British bakery chain - or as some people call it, the sausage roll shop - you won't need to try and guess what type of food item this could be.

Although as for the contents, guessing is not as easy as the blurred picture has loading sign on it - so have no fear - your internet is not slow.

Fans have looked at the picture with it appearing to be bright orange inside which can only mean one thing.

Taking to Twitter, hungry fans replied: "This had better be the cheese and bean melt."

Another said: "Sausage and bean melt?!!!!!!!!"

A third added: "This is the kind of content I live for Greggs."

However one customer may have been looking at the wrong picture after tweeting: "Please be iced ring doughnuts, not the sprinkle ones, I miss them so much!"

If the majority are indeed correct, the Greggs favourite will make its return after months off the menu.

The sausage, bean and cheese melt has been unavailable since the autumn due to supply chain issues and many people have clearly missed it.

Their popular melt contains well...beans, cheese and sausages.

Taking to their website the pastry chain said: "Bursting with delectable baked beans, our sausage meatballs, and gloriously gooey melted cheese, we can just about guarantee that our Sausage Bean and Cheese Melt will tickle your tastebuds."

Fans could get their hands on the popular item as early as Thursday (January 13) with the chain tweeting it has two days to go.

What do you think the item is - and which Greggs item do you want to see back on the menu?
