Greggs has confirmed it is opening another bakery in Liverpool and while initially this seems like exciting news it does come with some bad news for fans who believed recent rumours.
Rumours began circulating last week that Greggs was set to open a drive-thru restaurant at Aintree Shopping Park.
However, the bakery giant has confirmed to the ECHO it will be opening a new shop in that location but it will now have a drive-thru.
Greggs will be will be joining Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s and McDonald’s already at the shopping park.
A spokesperson for Greggs said: “We are pleased to confirm that we are progressing plans to open a new shop at Aintree Shopping Park, and will provide further updates in due course.
“However, although we’re always looking at potential Drive Thru locations across the UK, as things stand there are no current plans to open a Drive-Thru in Merseyside.”
The nearest branches to those living in Aintree are currently situated at Marian Square in Bootle and on St Chad's Drive in Kirkby.
Further details on the new store are expected in the coming weeks.
