Greggs has infuriated shoppers, and it's all down to a picture of a sausage roll

When it comes to Greggs, there's one menu item that has ultimate icon status - the sausage roll.

Whether you prefer the meat or vegan version, there's no denying the fact that it's a simple treat that can't be beaten.

It comes as no surprise, then, to hear that shoppers have been infuriated by a picture of a sausage roll which has suffered the ultimate crime.

'What could this crime be?' I hear you ask.

Well, the official Greggs Twitter account has tweeted out a picture containing a sausage roll with, wait for it, a bite bang in the middle of it.

SERIOUSLY, WHO EATS A SAUSAGE ROLL LIKE THAT? YOU ANIMALS.

Everybody knows that you should eat a sausage roll from one end to the other, and anyone who disagrees needs to take a long, hard look at themselves.

The whole thing came about as Greggs was replying to a tweet which asks people: "What feels illegal, but isn’t?" You're not wrong, Greggs. That does feel illegal, and it probably should be, too.

A lot of people quickly became infuriated by the tweet (and rightly so), and have Greggs a slap on the wrist for posting such a horrific picture.

"Reported," said one dismayed Twitter user.

Another added: "Such blasphemy!"

"Delete this," demanded somebody else.

A fourth disgruntled social media user wrote: "Blocked."

So basically, if you take your first bite of a sausage roll in the middle, maybe keep it to yourself.
