Greggs fans devastated as popular Salford branch shuts

Greggs fans have been left gutted after a popular Salford branch revealed it has closed its doors for good.

The branch, in Ellesmere Shopping Centre, permanently closed earlier this month, a spokesperson for the bakery giant confirmed.

Social media users lamented the loss of the shop, with some residents fearing that there will soon be 'nothing left' in Walkden town centre.

One Facebook commenter said: "What an utter shame, this shopping centre could be a little gold mine if the right people were behind it. Now just empty shells."

Another said: "That's a shame! It'll hardly be worth going into Walkden soon, prefer Bury, how come they can manage to have such a thriving busy shopping centre and market?"

"What a big loss to Walkden centre," added another social media user.

A Greggs spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News : “We can confirm that our Walkden shop permanently closed earlier this month. A full list of our shops in the local area can be found by using our Shop Finder which is available at greggs.co.uk
