Greg Wise's daughter says Strictly star will happily strip off and wax chest for dance

Actor Greg Wise ’s daughter Gaia says her dad will be happy to strip off and wax his chest for future performances - after his first dance saw him in a full top hat and tail suit.

The 21-year-old cheered her dad on alongside mum Dame Emma Thompson, 62, during Saturday’s performance at Elstree, and confirms: “My dad will be ‘manscaping’ for the show.”

“Manscaping” is a name given to the male grooming of hair.

“He has manscaped for a lot of roles,” she continued, adding of his 2014 film: “When he did Walking on Sunshine he was completely shaved. He manscaped all of his chest for that role.”

Greg, 55, also shaved his chest for the series Strange Angel from 2018.

“He does have a good body,” said Gaia.

“He has a six pack. We need to build him up to the sequins and then we will go full body.”

Greg has previously said he had “questions” over whether he should shave his chest, at the age of 55.

“Do you want a little bit of white hair poking through a sparkly t-shirt? I don’t know,” he pondered.

Greg and partner Karen Hauer scored a respectable 24 for their routine to That’s Life, while TV presenter AJ Odudu, 33, topped the leaderboard with 34 points for her jive with partner Kai Widdrington.

Greg has been on a strict diet to maintain his physique throughout the competition.

“He’s been avoiding processed food and heavy carbs, and has been having a lot of Epsom salts baths,” Gaia said.

The actress revealed it was Dame Emma who persuaded Greg to take part in the show as a tribute to his late sister Clare, who had a Glitterball coffin when she died from cancer in 2016.

“Mum convinced him to do it in memory of his sister Clare who died and he loved,” said Gaia

“She loved dancing. I have seen him dance generally but nothing like Strictly. Hopefully we will see the progression as the show goes on.”
