Greg Taylor signs new Celtic contract as left-back inks long-term deal for birthday joy

Celtic left-back Greg Taylor has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2025.

The Scotland international is currently sidelined after shoulder surgery, and is not expected to return until around Christmas.

The defender joined from Kilmarnock in a £1.5million deal in the summer of 2019, completing his move on transfer deadline day.

Taylor has gone on to make 61 appearances for Celtic, helping them to the title in 2019-20.

The full-back turned 24 on November 5 and was rewarded with a new contract that will see him stay at Parkhead until the summer of 2025.

Manager Ange Postecoglou was delighted to secure a deal as he told the Celtic website: "I am delighted that Greg has extended his contract with the club.

"He has had an excellent start to the season and has made a really valuable contribution to the team.

"Unfortunately he has suffered the injury in recent weeks, but our focus and his, is now to get him back in the squad as soon as possible, have him pick up where he left off and playing at that same high level.

“I am really pleased he has committed his future to Celtic and I am sure he will be an important player for us over the next few years."
