Greg Taylor loving life at Celtic under Ange Postecoglou as defender discusses delight with new deal

Celtic's Greg Taylor has explained just how much he enjoys working under Ange Postecoglou, after signing a new four year deal with the club.

The left-back was given the perfect birthday present by the Hoops, putting pen to paper on the new contract the same day he turned 24.

The Scotland international's existing contract was due to expire in 2023, but he's now signed on for a further two years at Parkhead.

Taylor joined Celtic from Kilmarnock for £1.5 million just over two years ago, and has gone on to make 60 appearances for the Hoops.

After playing regularly in the opening weeks of the season, Taylor suffered a shoulder injury and after undergoing surgery, he's expected to be out until the end of the year.

After signing his new deal, Taylor spoke about how much he's enjoying working under manager Postecoglou and the Aussie's style of play.

Taylor told Celtic TV: "I was desperate to extend my contract with the club, I've loved my two years since I've been here and hopefully I can continue that now.

"I enjoyed it certainly at the start of the season and had a good two or three months under the new manager and loved it. I really enjoy his way of playing and I feel it suits my game, coming inside.

"It's definitely something I've enjoyed and something I can't wait to get back out and be a part of.

"It's just nice that the manager rewards you for what he believes you've done previously and it's hopefully a relationship we can continue in the not-too-distant future."

Adam Montgomery, Boli Bolingoli and summer signing Josip Juranovic have all filled in at left-back while Taylor has been out injured for the last two months, and he insists he's eagerly anticipating the challenge of trying to win back his starting place.

Taylor added: "There's always going to be competition at big clubs, I've said this in every interview since I signed here, and that's normal," he said.

"The lads are playing really well at the moment and long may that continue."

Celtic, minus Taylor, travel to Dens Park to take on Dundee on Sunday.

One player who will be part of the squad is Anthony Ralston, who like Taylor, put pen to paper on Sunday earlier this week.
