Greg Taylor explains new Celtic look as birthday boy admits moustache decision 'not the best'

Birthday boy Greg Taylor admits his new facial hair has him "not looking his best" - but he's happy to do his bit this Movember.

Taylor put pen to paper on a new deal til 2025 on Friday, coinciding with his 24th birthday.

The pictures that accompanied the announcement were the first look Celtic fans have had at Taylor since September as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury.

And much was made of his eye-catching moustache.

But Taylor accepts the ribbing that has inevitably come his way as the growth is in the name of Movember - the charity initiative that sees millions of men go without a shave throughout November to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

He said: “It was something me and my friends decided we would do this year, We thought it was a good opportunity to raise awareness for the Movember charity, which is about men’s mental health and men’s prostate cancer.

"So we thought by doing this, and this is certainly a nice occasion for myself in signing my contract and having my birthday, it would publicise it as well.

"So I’m not looking my best but I’m certainly happy to be taking one for the team.”

Taylor has been a big miss for Ange Postecoglou 's team with new right-back Josip Juranovic filling in on the left flank while Anthony Ralston - who penned a new deal of his own earlier this week - continues his resurgence on the right.

But he's expected to be back before the end of the year and says his recovery is going well.

He went on: “It’s going really well and progressing nicely. I’m desperate to get back out there. I miss it every game I watch and come and see, so I can’t wait.

“It’s a nice day for myself and my family. I was desperate to extend my contract with the club, I’ve loved my two years since I’ve been here and hopefully I can continue that now.

“There’s always going to be competition at big clubs, I’ve said that in every interview since I signed here, that’s normal. The lads are playing really well at the moment and long may that continue.”
