Greg Taylor completes Celtic transfer as Kilmarnock defender signs four-year deal

Celtic have signed Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor on a four-year deal.

The Scotland international becomes Neil Lennon's tenth summer signing and the Hoops boss is overjoyed after landing the man he pinpointed as a Kieran Tierney replacement.

Taylor missed Killie's Premiership win over St Johnstone on Saturday through injury while talks continued between both clubs with hours left in the window.

And it was a day of drama on Monday as Celtic had a £2m bid turfed out before an agreement was reached and the 21-year-old left the national team to seal his Parkhead switch.

Taylor is expected to provide competition for Boli Bolingoli on the left side of defence, a high priority area following Tierney's £25million move to Arsenal.

The Greenock-born star began his career with Rangers' youth academy before moving to Rugby Park in 2014.

He went on to make 131 appearances for Kilmarnock , scoring one goal.

His form in 2018/18 prompted Scotland boss Steve Clarke to draft him in for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Belgium, making his debut against the latter in Brussels.

Taylor could be joined at his new club by Manchester United defender Lee O'Connor.

Record Sport understands the Hoops are working on a deal to bring the Old Trafford rising star in on a permanent deal before the window closes.

The 19-year-old right-back is highly regarded among the club's academy but is poised to agree a move to Glasgow.
