Greg Stewart reveals his Rangers initiation song as he looks back on Portugal trip

Greg Stewart grew up singing Simply the Best with the rest of the Ibrox crowd when he attended as a fan.

But now he's a Rangers player it will be up him to entertain supporters with his peformances on the pitch.

Before that though, he had to win the dressing room over and like any new player, was forced to sing in front of the rest of Steven Gerrard's squad

Unfortunately - or perhaps fortunately - there was no footage of him actually chanting his introductory anthem  but he certainly didn't seem to enjoy it.

Rangers' Greg Stewart celebrates his goal with team mate Daniel Candeias (SNS Group)

Stewart told RangersTV: "It was good to get out there and know the boys and for all the new boys to get together and gel with those who were already here.

"It was tough going and the last three days was melting as well so it was tough yeah, but it will only benefit us. It was a good tough week’s training but it was good to gel with the squad.

"Obviously I knew most of them from playing against them anyway so it was quite easy for me.

"It was great, we all had to do our song so it got that out of the way which is always good, but no, it was a good week."

And when asked what he picked he revealed it was the Ben E. King classic saying: “Stand By Me. Something safe.”

The forward will be hoping to be on song when he gets his chance in blue and definitely will be hoping that the support stand by him if things don't get off to the brightest start.
