Greg Stewart makes Rangers admission as he opens up on bit-part role

Greg Stewart believes he is finally starting to show what he's capable of at Rangers.

The forward arrived in the summer as a free agent, but struggled to nail down a regular spot in Steven Gerrard's side in the early stages of the season.

The Light Blues have strength in numbers up front with Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe both enjoying blistering starts to the season.

However, the versatile playmaker has been included in the starting XI for two of the past three games for Rangers as he played an hour in the 2-1 win over Motherwell on Sunday.

And the former Aberdeen and Kilmarnock star admitted he's needed to bide his time to adjust to playing for a club like Rangers.

He said: "All the boys and coaching staff have welcomed me well. Some games don't suit certain players, we have a big squad with different players for each game. You certainly need to work hard when you see the quality we have in this squad.

"As a new player in this team you have to get used to the style of play. I feel like in the past few weeks I am starting to get to grips with this and hope it is coming out now in my games."

Meanwhile, Ibrox No.2 Gary McAllister as refused to reveal who will be on penalty-kick duties against Ross County after James Tavernier's recent struggles.

He added: "From the minute we arrived here Tavernier has been very robust, he has been available for almost every game and training session, he has had some criticism but he will come through it and we fully trust the guy.

"He has our full backing. He is a top player. But I will not be telling Ross County who is taking our penalties I'm afraid!"
