Greg Olsen announces retirement, will become FOX announcer

Longtime NFL tight end Greg Olsen announced his retirement on FOX’s NFL Sunday pregame show. Olsen, who signed a contract with the network in July, is headed to the broadcast booth as an analyst.

Olsen played 14 seasons, four with Chicago, nine with Carolina, and 2020 with the Seattle Seahawks. He played college football at the University of Miami and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 2007 first round.

Olsen has been plagued by injuries over the last four seasons, seeing action in 41 of a possible 64 games.

He finishes with 742 receptions for 8,683 yards and 60 touchdowns.

Olsen already has spent time in the FOX booth, doing an occasional NFL game on bye weeks and working the network’s short-lived XFL broadcasts.

It has been reported Olsen will be teamed with Kevin Burkhardt on FOX’s second announce team.
