Greg O'Shea recounts being 'shunned and abused' after winning Love Island

Greg O’Shea has opened up about being ‘shunned and abused’ after shooting to fame on Love Island last year.

Marking the one year anniversary since he entered the Spanish villa last year, the Irish rugby sevens star reflected on the ups and downs that came with his new found fame.

In a personal poem, the Limerick native, who went on to win the hit show just after two weeks, described the past year as “beautifully hectic”.

He wrote: “Exactly one year since I entered Love Island! It’s difficult to express in a caption how the experience has been.”

“I do however want to thank you for following me on my journey so far, your support means more to me than you’ll ever know.

“In return for your kindness, I wrote a short poem for you. I hope enjoy it!”

The poem read: “Although shunned and abused for pursuing my dreams,

“Known only to few, the truth behind the scenes.”

“The past year of my life so beautifully hectic,

“Not a thing I would change, though very unexpected.”

The candid expression comes after the sports star opened up about the wrath of the online hate he received after splitting from Amber Gill.
