Greg Manusky sounds thrilled about additions to Redskins coaching staff

Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Greg Manusky was the subject of much scrutiny this offseason as the team met with other possible coordinators.

But Manusky is back and he’s flanked by some high-profile additions. Ray Horton is a former coordinator who will coach defensive backs and it’s hard not to know Rob Ryan, who will coach linebackers.

“Everything is going good right now with Rob [Ryan] and Ray [Horton] both in the meeting rooms,” Manusky said, according to Redskins.com. “We’re just going over schemes and how we kind of run things, so we’re in that process now of kind of breaking us down and doing that.”

It’s a powerhouse of a staff, but it also looks like many chefs in the kitchen. The trio will have to work around big losses such as Zach Brown and Preston Smith while the bulk of the draft picks figure to go to the offensive side of the ball.

Still, if there is a staff capable of handling the problems facing the unit, it is the one the Redskins have assembled with Manusky at the middle.
